A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded 2025
Helping families keep their loved ones with dementia at home, surrounded by love.
Founded in memory of Michael S. Powell Sr., U.S. Army veteran and father, the Michael Powell Foundation gives caregiving families the tools, community, and support to face dementia together.
Our story
Born from love, loss, and one family's devotion.
Founder Shanikka Gibson started this foundation in honor of her father, an Army veteran who faced dementia with quiet strength. She watched her mother care for him at home every day — and saw firsthand how much families need support that simply doesn't exist yet.
"Your love is the strongest medicine."
Today, every donation and volunteer hour goes toward helping other families do what her mother did: keep their loved one's home, cared for, and surrounded by connection.............
